Headache

A headache is one of those uninvited guests that shows up at the worst possible time during your study session, right before an exam, or when you finally decide to relax with a cup of tea. It starts with a tiny tap then with a drum, and suddenly it’s like a full concert in your skull. But why does it happen? And more importantly, how do you send this back?

What exactly is headache?

A headache is simply a pain in your head, scalp or neck. It happens when

  • Your muscles tighten
  • Your nerves become irritated
  • Or your blood vessels get triggered.

The brain itself doesn’t feel pain, but the things around it do and thry love to complain.

Common types of headache:

Meet the troublemakers:

Tension headache:

It feels like someone tied a rubber band around your forehead. It is usually caused by stress, lack of sleep or starting your phone like it’s love of your life.

Migraine:(drama queen)

It causes a throbbing pain on your one side, nausea, sensitivity to light and sound. Basically the headache comes with a whole emotional background story.

Sinus headache:

It is caused by a blocked nose. It happens with flu and allergies. My forehead and cheeks hurt. You try to bend down, your cheeks also hurt. You try to bend down but your head says, “ No thanks”.

Cluster headache:

It is like a monster that comes rarely with a sharp pain around one eye but thankfully it is common.

Why does your headache happen?

The headache happens because of following reasons

  • Stress and anxiety: The unique culprit.
  • Dehydration: We often forget to drink water.
  • Lack of sleep: When we scroll all night and forget to sleep at night.
  • Hunger: Skip meals and give importance to work and study.
  • Screen time: Mobile, laptop and Netflix, all these take our time and then give us a headache.
  • Caffeine withdrawal: Taking tea or coffee and when you skip it, your brain misses it.
  • Weather changes:
  • Flu, fever, sinusitis: Sometimes your head hurts because you are a human and you have a life.

How to send a headache home?

Natural fixes:

  • Drink water immediately: When you drink a lot of water then most headaches disappear just by hydrating.
  • Sleep 20-30 minutes: When you take a mini nap of 20-30 minutes to reset your head.
  • Cold compressor: When you place a cold cloth and ice pack on your forehead.
  • Deep breathing relaxation: When you stress out you give an invitation to a headache and when you take stress, you also invite the headache along with it.
  • Take tea: Taking tea helps sometimes but not all the time. If you get a headache then don’t drink too much tea.
  • Eat something: If you eat something while stressed or during a headache it can normalize it.

When actually to worry?

Most headaches are harmless but in some cases you have to see the doctor.

  • When you get severe and sudden pain.
  • When it comes after any injury.
  • When it comes with confusion or blurred vision.
  • When it is accompanied with vomiting and high fever.
  • When you experience a constant headache and it doesn’t go.

True Conclusion:

A headache is your body’s way of saying, “ please take a break, you are a human.”
You are not a robot but when your phone needs recharging and so your mind also does it. Treat your head kindly, hydrate, rest, breathe and maybe put the phone down for a minute.
